Investing in a professional newborn photographer is so important. Your new tiny little baby won’t be tiny for long. Newborn is just that – new born. Their first few weeks into the world and they are changing and growing really quickly. To think of the changes and developments of baby in one year, from newborn to age one is incredible!
Your new tiny little baby won’t be tiny for long. Newborn is just that – new born.
So if you’re wondering if you should invest in a professional newborn photographer, or let your friend with a camera have a go, then read this first before making your decision.
1. Baby Safety.
For me, this is the MOST IMPORTANT reason to invest in a professional. Your baby is precious and fragile and tiny. A newborn photographer is trained in baby safety as much as the technical elements of photography. They know the limitations of poses and shots. And a LOT of newborn photography is camera trickery and editing. During my training {and regular top-up training} I was taught so many tricks and tips that had helped my trainer {one of the first UK newborn photographers} and she shared them all. Which for me, makes for a more settled baby, happier experience and amazingly beautiful photographs.
2. Trained Photographer
Not only will they be trained in baby safety, but also in photography. So the technical elements of a pro level camera, lighting, settings, angles, composition etc. will all be second nature to them. Never mind knowing how to use editing software. So you can rest assured that you have invested in a professional that will give you quality photographs.

3. Keepsakes that will last forever.
This reason is the MOST IMPORTANT as this experience is a once in a lifetime. There’s no doubt that you’ll want to invest in this memorable time. Babies grow so fast and you know you’ll not get this time back. But you can make sure you invest in quality keepsakes that will last you a lifetime. And no, I’m not just talking about digital images that will probably stay on your USB never to see the light of day. I’m talking about actual beautiful framed art work that you showcase in your home. The art work that you’ll walk past every day and will make you smile and think back to that time.
4. Photographer Experience.
Of course this really helps to put you as parents at ease. Knowing that your professional newborn photographer is not only trained in photography and baby safety, but also has experience can really help to reassure you. With experience often comes attention to detail. Details that you as parents won’t think, nor need, to pick up on. And this makes for those perfect photographs.

5. Equipment and props.
A professional newborn photographer will not only have the best pro cameras, lenses and probably flash lighting, but they will also have the relevant equipment and props for newborn photography. Most often these ‘props’ are purchased through specialist baby photographer suppliers. And if not, a good trained newborn photographer will know just what they are looking for so that you get gorgeous photographs that are safe to capture.
If you are searching for your professional newborn photographer, then have a look at my portfolio and get in touch to check availability.
I really hope that you find the reasons that I have shared here to be as valuable as I think they are. Remember, your little newborn is only tiny for a short time and this opportunity really is a once in a lifetime.
