On what felt like the wettest day of the 2016, I had great pleasure in sharing Hayley & Dan’s beautiful wedding day. As a wedding photographer based in Lincolnshire, I have explored some gorgeous venues and quaint little churches. I have experienced all different weather! And this particular day was insistent on staying wet! So, armed with brollies, wellies and back up camera gear, I set about capturing gorgeous photographs regardless.
My day started in a snug and cosy cabin at Woodthorpe Hall, where I got to swoon over a bridal dress fit for a princess. With beautiful (if not impractical given the weather) shoes, handpicked jewellery and amazingly real fake flowers, Hayley’s choice of styling really complimented the whole setting. After hair, make up, giggles and nerves, we all made our way to church.
And then she said “I do”…
Arriving at St. Wilfrid’s Church, Alford, I met with Dan and his best man. We wanted ‘before’ shots of the groom and candid shots of family and friends arriving. Alford Church sits prettily in its well maintained grounds, and would have made for beautiful photographs. But the weather had different ideas! So, after a lovely ceremony we used the stunning backdrop of the main church window for key family shots that Hayley had on her shot list.
With the rain easing only a little, we made our way to Woody’s Bar at Woodthorpe Hall Leisure Park. Here the bride and groom celebrated with almost 100 of their friends and family. After tearful speeches, joyful jokes, and lots of scrumptious food we decided to pop our wellies on and nip out in the rain to get our pre-planned couple photographs. This is my most favourite part of my role as a wedding photographer.
Especially in Lincolnshire, as the landscape has so much to offer. And these are the shots that the bride and groom have printed and framed to showcase in their home. Hayley and Dan were the ideal couple for any photographer. They were happy to take a little direction when needed and to try a few different ideas. They both made sure they soaked up (quite literally) everything that their special day had to offer.
After the rain…
We’ve since created a stunning wedding album containing all of those key moments. Details that every bride spends hours on choosing and making, with photographs of all of their family and friends. It’s the perfect item to keep all of their wedding memories together. And one that they will be able to always look back on during their married lives.
