One of my most popular sessions at my Louth photography studio is a cake smash! It’s such a fun and easy way to celebrate baby’s first birthday. And who can complain when there’s cake involved!
This fabulous girly cake smash celebrated Connie turning one! Her gorgeous mummy found this incredibly cute outfit {especially made for this photo session} and used the colours as inspiration for the backdrop, cake and balloons. Now, I’d love to take credit for the backdrop of pom-pom style bunting – but her mummy handmade that one. And not only that, she made her enormous {and really delicious} cake too! Where this mummy found the time to create all of this is completely unknown.
I’m loving all of these colours in this shoot. Together they really bring out the pretty flower pattern in Connie’s little outfit. I’m quite open to ideas on styling for a cake smash. Whether it’s blue, pink, colourful or neutrals; bunting, balloons, confetti or party decorations; the options on styling is quite limitless.
Connie and the cake…
Connie was quite happy exploring the studio and playing with the balloons, but once this perfectly pink cake turned up – well, she had to explore it with her tastebuds! We explored it’s flavour {quite a bit} and then it’s texture. In fact, Connie liked the colour and texture of the cake so much that it’s didn’t take too long for her to delve in and make a mess!
I think my favourite part of this cake smash photo shoot was the expressions that we captured. Smiles, giggles, curiosity, concentration…I think it’s safe to say that Connie loved every part of turning one! The gorgeous collection of photographs below show the story of her session. And I loved these photographs so much, I used several of them for my studio product samples too.
Smile, Jeni x
