I just love it when old school friends get in touch about being their wedding photographer. It’s such a great chance to have a really good catch up on what we’re all doing now and reminiscing about those childhood days.
Jane and I went to school together only a short while ago (!!) and had seen each other a few times in our local Louth town. I also met her lovely little doggy Snoopy during a studio session too, and knew that when Jane enquired about her wedding photography that Snoopy would get in on the action.
So, after catching up on life and obviously talking all things weddings, we planned in Jane & fiancé Michael’s pre-wedding photo shoot. I offer these to all couples who choose full day photography coverage, as a way of ‘breaking the ice’ where the camera is concerned, and by way of showing my couples just how I’ll work on the day.
This was an ideal time for Snoopy to get in on the action. He was such a little poser and loved working his angles for the camera! But in all seriousness, on our stroll around local Hubbard’s Hills, I could see how loved up Jane & Michael were with each other. With little direction from me, we captured some cute shots that they chose to include in their wedding service.
The big day arrived…
Once the special day arrived, I felt that both Jane and Michael were much more comfortable being around my cameras! The lenses on these babies can be quite intimidating! They had put their trust in me to tell the story of their day, so that’s what I set out to do. I loved capturing the getting ready stage at Jane’s parents home. The atmosphere was calming but with a buzz of excitement too. Wedding details and cute gifts all set about some emotional moments… which almost caught me out too! Ever the romantic!
Then when we got to the Church…
I couldn’t wait to get to the church. St James’s Church in Louth is one of the most stunning Churches in Lincolnshire. It lends such beautiful light and space for wedding couples and guests. And the backdrop of amazing architecture and intricate stained glass windows makes for gorgeous photographs too. After what can only be described as a fun and relaxed service, these two became Mr & Mrs and it was time to party up the road in a pretty marquee at the Louth Golf Club.
Fun & laughter celebrating over at the Louth Golf Club…
Everyone loved Jane & Michael’s choice of venue and the marquee was dressed to perfection with lots of personal touches. The celebration was, as always, with speeches, which I always find quite touching. I’ve heard lots of speeches whilst being a wedding photographer, and it’s really humbling to hear just how much each couple are adored. In the midst of partying, of course I was greeted with more school friends for, of course, more catching up!
My fav part of the day…
At every wedding I like to sneak off with the couple to find a quiet, picturesque spot to take their ‘newly married couple’ shots. This is often my favourite time of day. It’s so nice to see them relaxed and enjoying catching up in what is usually a full-on day. It’s these moments that I find make some of the cutest photographs. And all before the celebration begins again with new arrivals, dancing, singing and generally larking about!
Congratulations Mr & Mrs G! I wish you lots of fun-filled happiness on your new adventure together.
I always like to shout out the local wedding suppliers and services that my couples use… so here we go:
