This Great Carlton Church wedding here in lovely Lincolnshire was such a gorgeous day. So many of my ‘must have’ wedding boxes were ticked!
….Countryside Church
….Beautiful Autumnal colours
….A dry day {it does actually happen sometimes!}
So, the story of us {my lovely couple here and I} started when we met at The Lincs Wedding Show in Grimsby. A gorgeous rainy day photograph grabbed their attention and from there we got nattering. I fell in love with their Church venue many years ago, and once they told me where they were getting married, I think they could see my enthusiasm! So, we exchanged details and off they wondered…. a few more steps before shuffling backwards and booking me there and then!
And it was the start of a lovely friendship. I like to keep in touch with my couples throughout their planning journey {without being spammy or like a stalker!} Your wedding planning journey can be anything from a few months to a few years… so it’s important to me that we catch up now and again. Whatever the wedding planning duration! So, I’ll send the odd email. Let my coupes know they can get in touch at any time to ask me questions. I’ll mention if I’m at a wedding fair so they can pop and say hi, eat a little cake and have a quick catch up. I often share any tips I’ve picked up or supplier contacts I can recommend too. And I do have some great ones!
I won’t say which of the two were camera shy of this lovely couple, but one of them was. And thankfully, after having met a few times, ‘they’ were much more relaxed around me and my camera. Especially after their complimentary pre-wedding photography session.
Once the day arrived, I could comfortably sit amongst my bride and her family and friends. I could candidly document them getting ready. Record the excitement and nerves! It felt relaxed and enjoyable. Even their loveable dog Tulip gave me some cute expressions for the camera!
Once I arrived at the very cute Great Carlton Church, I met with the excitable Groom! He was beaming from ear to ear most of the day. I am sure that his mission in life is to make everyone laugh! If you look closely at photographs he is in, there’s always a hint of his fun loving character. Surrounded by family and friends, these lovely two had a wonderful service which, of course, included Tulip {with her pals Mavis & Fudge outside too!} I often am asked if I’ll work with dogs at weddings. I’m more than happy to fuss over them – they make for interesting photographs!
“On the morning of our wedding during all the nerves it was a comfort to have Jeni around taking photographs. She was very easy going and happy to blend in.” Alex
As I’m a lover of the more relaxed wedding, I encourage my couples to have a small list of group photographs. I’ll help with this where necessary, and we’ll work out a ‘workflow’ so the part of the day is efficient and enjoyable for everyone! Photographs that I really encourage are the ones of you both together, as a married couple! These will be the photographs you frame and hang on your walls. So at some point of the day, we’ll sneak off and have half an hour or so where you guys can catch up. With me helping you get comfy and relaxed but beautiful photographs.
When I arrive at the reception venue, in this case The Wagon & Horses in South Reston, I love how the bride and groom have made the venue theirs. In this case, these two painted their personality all over. From small quirky details, through to the bigger details. And they made sure that everyone would have fun with a bouncy castle for the children – you know, the big ones! Here’s a few more photographs of the wedding speeches, I think the laughter and smiles sum up what such a pleasurable day it was.
Smile, Jeni x
