I met Lizzie, Darren and their gorgeous little daughter last year when they visited me at my Louth photography studio to discuss their wedding photography. Straight away I could tell that family was a big part of their lives. As a couple and as parents they wanted to include their gorgeous little girl in their special day in every way they could, without it being too much for her young age. So, when we ventured out into the Lincoln Arboretum for their pre-wedding photo shoot, we balanced it with a family photo session.
Such a helpful little recruit…
Armed with an old camera that I often allow young children to play with at the studio, I set about giving their little girl a role. To help me take fabulous photographs! And what a little star she was too. So very helpful at making sure mummy and daddy were smiling and enjoying their early Spring walk. As a Lincoln wedding photographer, I have lots of gorgeous venue choices for pre-wedding shoots. My first time at the Arboretum, and I loved it! Such a lot of opportunities. Gorgeous old, textured brick walls. Tree lined walk ways. Beautiful gardens {although, not yet in bloom}. Decorative fountain features. A cute little maze. And of course, a well maintained children’s play park. And we definitely used the latter one as a reward for my little recruit’s hard work!
It helps to break the ice…
Having a pre-wedding photo session is part of my full day wedding package. Not only does it give the ‘before’ photographs, but it helps me with my role during the actual wedding day. Throughout the journey as a bride-to-be and groom-to-be, I meet with my couples up to three or four times. I like to invest this time into my couples. I know that by the time their special day arrives, my brides and grooms will be relaxed around me. They’ll know me. They’ll know my way of working. And I’ll know them. I’ll see if they shy away from my camera. Understand why they don’t like having their photograph taken. Help them with ideas to get a little more confident in front of the camera. I’ll guide them through the photography that they want on their wedding day.
Smile, Jeni x
