Let’s walk you through the journey of being a ‘Jeni Lowe Photography Wedding couple’…
When I got married back in 2007, my partner and I found our photographer locally. We popped into their shop, paid our deposit and then booked in our engagement session. And that was pretty much that! We ventured along to their studio for our engagement shoot, chose a print of us both and then we saw our photographer the morning I got married.
The morning of my wedding, I was actually greeted by a lady I hadn’t met before, who was the second shooter. I didn’t even realise I had a second shooter! Turns out, it was the wife of our photographer! Now, don’t get me wrong – she was a lovely lady and fab photographer, but I would have liked to have known this before my wedding day.
I pride myself on offering a great service that makes my couples happy, relaxed, excited and reassured”
Add in a few more minor mishaps, and everything went great. But on reflection I would have preferred more information before the day. We hadn’t even been asked for a shot list. My photographers just made their own on the day using their years of experience. Thankfully, this worked out ok. Although the chef wouldn’t agree as the photographs were making his 55 meals go cold…
So this is why I’ve decided to share with you how I work as a wedding photographer. I pride myself on offering a great service that makes my couples happy, relaxed, excited and reassured. I invest time into building relationships with them so that I know they will have a good experience with me. Read on to find out more about The Jeni Lowe Photography Wedding Experience…
1// We meet…over tea & cake!
Yep! Either I’ll have received a lovely email or we’ll have met at a wedding fair. We’ll briefly discuss my services and then I’ll invite you to have tea & cake at my studio near Louth, Lincolnshire. For me this is an opportunity to see if I’ll be the right fit for your day. Essentially it’s a relaxed consultation! We’ll discuss your ‘wedding vision’ so far and what it is that you’re both looking for in terms of photography.
2// We’ll keep in touch
It’s not unheard of for me to have couples book me 2 years in advance. And so I like to keep in touch occasionally with clients by either including them as a newsletter subscriber, or by sending them a little email every now and then. You might want to ask me questions that pop up. And that’s fine. I am happy for my couples to get in touch with me anytime. And hopefully I’ll be able to help. All of this reassures you guys I’m there when you need me.
3// We’ll enjoy a pre-wedding photography session
Most of my Wedding Photography Collections include a Pre-Wedding Photography Session. I offer these for several reasons {which you can find on this blog post here} but mainly so that we can get to know each other a little. Having this session helps me to learn more about your wedding day plans. I’ll see how you both photograph as a couple. You’ll learn more about how I work. And most importantly, the session helps to break the ice and gets you more comfortable with me and my intimidating-looking camera! Usually, we book the pre-wedding session about 3-4 months in advance of the wedding date.

4// We’ll have a ‘recce’ of venues
There are venues that I will have shot weddings at many times before, and some that I haven’t. But that’s ok because regardless, I like to visit and have a ‘recce’ of your venue/s. Usually I’ll meet you at the place you’ll be having your wedding reception. We’ll have an explore. I’ll show you areas where are great to have photographs, you might have suggestions of your own, and we’ll also create a ‘rainy day back-up plan’. This is important so that you don’t worry about it on your special day. For Church ceremonies, I like to attend your rehearsal – just to make sure we’ve got everything covered! When meeting, I’ll show you your gallery of retouched photographs from your pre-wedding photography session. During this, we will also go through the timeline of your day, your shot list and your contract.

So far…
So, so far we’ve met to discuss your wedding photography. We’ve kept in touch with any extra questions and updates. We’ve had fun at a pre-wedding photography session. In the meantime, I’ve edited these and got them prepared for you to view. We’ve met at your venue/s. We’ve discussed your wedding day timeline, shot list and done the paperwork. I’ve met you at your Church rehearsal {if you’re having a Church ceremony} …and we’re only just getting to the wedding day…
5// Enjoying your wedding day
Cameras ready. Batteries charged. Back up camera ready. Extra batteries charged. Brollies, extra shoes, clothes, towels and other items all loaded into the car. In some cases, I can be visiting up to four venues on a wedding day. So I like to make sure I get in there early! Most days are approximately a 10 hour coverage. And I like to stay on ‘observation alert’ throughout this whole time. That way, everyone can enjoy the celebration and relax into the day. All captured on camera by me.

6// The unseen work – editing
So, after backing up the back up photographs on hard drives and clouds, I make a start on ‘culling’ photographs. And you can imagine how many digital images are taken during a 10 hour wedding day. Once this process has been done, then it’s onto editing. There’s certain software that I prefer to use for editing. And each wedding can take up to two weeks of retouching before they are ready to be delivered. In the meantime, I’ll post some sneaky peeks on my social media so that my couples can have a little look at a few of their gorgeous photographs. I also like to surprise my couples with a couple of extra bits too – but I can’t tell you what this surprise is – that’s just for the newly married couples to know about!
I also like to surprise my couples with a some of extra bits too – but I can’t tell you what this surprise is – it’s part of The Jeni Lowe Photography Wedding Experience!
7// One of my fav bits – designing albums and products
I love all of my role as a wedding photographer. But I really enjoy seeing my photographs in print. And so I love the process of designing albums and creating beautiful framed artwork. Depending on the choice of Wedding Photography Collection, I provide my couples with a ‘Wedding Album Design Plan’. This is my effort to help couples narrow down their photographs favourites for their wedding album and products. And I can tell you now, it’s not an easy or quick process, but a very enjoyable one all the same.

8// Delivery of your photographs
Whether this is the Digital Collection, Signature Collection or the Bespoke Signature Collection… this is the moment you’ll have been waiting for! All that hard work and creativity will have you guys smiling from ear to ear when you get to see your wedding day story unfold all over again! You’ll want to relive every moment – and with your photographs, that’s exactly what you’ll be able to do. You’ll be able to keep those memories alive every time you see them.
So if you’re recently engaged or in the midst of planning your wedding and like the sound of The Jeni Lowe Photography Wedding Experience {aka…looking for your wedding photographer}, then please get in
and we can talk all things wedding!!
Smile, Jeni x
