At the Pheasantry Brewery, Newark

I love venturing out of my home county of Lincolnshire to explore new wedding venues. In this instance I became a very happy Newark wedding photographer. I had the pleasure of meeting Chloe & Max at a wedding fair in Lincoln some years ago! I knew once we started speaking that they were a couple I would enjoy working with. Chloe reminded me of a good friend of mine and the more they told me about their wedding, the more I loved hearing about it.
A Summer wedding at a beautiful exclusive venue West of Lincoln – The Pheasantry Brewery. A unique setting full of character with a wedding bespoke to them. Converted farm buildings set amongst the pretty Nottinghamshire countryside that promised stunning photographs. The more I found out about the venue, the more excited I got!
And their story begins…
In the meantime, when I next met up with Chloe & Max for their pre-wedding photography session, I also got to meet their incredibly gorgeous little baby boy too. I always encourage a mini family session when possible – we break the pre-wedding shoot into two halves. Every pre-wedding shoot is interesting. It’s a time for me to get to know the couple a little more, see how they are around the camera, each other, me! And usually, because we schedule it near to the wedding date – I get to hear lots more about their wedding plans too. And the more detail Chloe & Max told me, the more I could envisage their story.

Much nearer the date of the wedding, I met Chloe & Max again, but this time at their beautiful wedding venue – The Pheasantry Brewery. For me it’s an opportunity to scout out where the wedding ceremony will take place, check out lighting situations, how they plan to use the venue spaces {with a weather back-up too} and I look for all of the creative locations that we shoot at with {hopefully} some fabulously soft sunlight.
The day of the wedding
On the morning of their wedding, I loved seeing all of Chloe’s bridal plans come together. We spent the morning at their home – a beautifully quaint cottage they’d thrown their love into refurbishing – and captured all of the details that made up their special day. And all of those moments in between. Giggles between bridesmaids. Cute, curious faces from the little ones. Nervous excitement getting those finishing touches in place.

Once I arrived to meet Max and guests at the The Pheasantry Brewery, I could see that Max had made the decision to have their wedding ceremony outdoors – their preference – mine too! Their brilliant Wedding Co-ordinator Danielle and her team made the whole outdoor area look perfect. It really had that relaxed luxury rustic vibe where guests could get comfortable and really enjoy the wedding day. Just as Chloe & Max celebrated being officially married – the skies started to celebrate too with a small rain shower and as the newly married couple made their way inside, so did the guests with their brollies! I love that the rain held off until then, and I love this collection of photographs too.

Speeches full of laughter
Sometimes I find that I get nervous when it comes to the speeches of a wedding reception. As a closet introvert, I am useless at formal public speaking! So I often feel the instant worry when watching the chaps – and sometimes ladies – stand to formerly speak. But I never need to worry! Not once have I heard a poor speech. They’re written with love and feeling and spoken to family and friends, who receive it with love, respect and more often than not, lots of laughter. And these speeches were full of emotion and enjoyment. Especially with two Best Men!

Romance in the fields
Find me a corn or barley field and I’ll be as happy as Larry! I love the natural colours, the tones and textures. So, as the rain dried up, the children made their way outside to run freely and spend some of that extra energy, so did we! We ventured around the grounds of the venue and explored, allowing Chloe & Max to have their first quieter moments together as husband & wife! I love this quiet part of the day. A time for them to catch up and properly check-in with one another. And these are the moments I love to capture. Together we explored the venue and it’s pretty nature spots, including – of course – the cornfield! And we celebrated the wild wind filling the skirt of Chloe’s full wedding gown. Such a beautiful shot to conclude their perfect day.

Party the night away
And with tradition, Chloe & Max finished the night with full on celebrations to live music, sharing their cake cutting, their first dance and father & daughter dance too. Congratulations Mr & Mrs Gaskin! I loved being a part of your day and felt honoured to be your wedding photographer. I hope to explore the area more as a Newark wedding photographer too.
