Katherine and Shaun were looking for a relaxed wedding photographer. Someone who could capture their day as it unfolded. To document their story with photographs that they could look back on in years to come. It was important to them to have the blended balance of limited posed photographs, and to really focus on the natural progressions of their day.
I love the quaintness that Alford Manor offers. Nestled in the middle of a busy little market town, the building itself has more than 400 years of history and has been restored and maintained with such love and care. Katherine and Shaun chose to get married here, outdoors in the beautiful gardens surrounded by their loved ones. Their vision for their wedding was to feel completely comfortable and to ensure that their family and friends had lots of chilled out fun at their wedding celebration.
And their story begins…
Katherine and Shaun had chosen my Signature Collection for their wedding photography, which included a pre-wedding photography session. I always encourage my couples to have this particular shoot {it comes with almost all of my Wedding Photography Collections} as it really helps everyone to feel more at ease around the camera – super important if you want that relaxed feeling on your wedding day. We headed out to my local woods and explored the area in the evening sunlight and talked more about their wedding plans.

Only a couple of days before the wedding I met with Katherine at Alford Manor House with her wedding co-ordinator to go through the arrangements for their day. We talked in detail about timings and searched for some beautiful backdrops to their photographs. And of course we talked about the all important ‘rainy-day back-up plan’ – a must for any wedding day, any time of the year!
The day of the wedding
I met with Katherine’s parents on the morning of the wedding at their family home. Excitement filled the air with only a little nervous evergy whilst everyone enjoyed getting ready for this special day. Everytime I had met with Katherine, she always greeted me with the biggest and most friendly smile, and this day was no different. I was made to feel so welcome and a real part of their wedding day.

And so once everyone at home was ready and enjoying a small glass of bubbly before setting off, I made my way to meet the chaps at Alford Manor. I was greeted with lots of smiles and few nerves. The energy of the outdoor gardens was super relaxed and the weather was absolutely perfect. Friends and family gathered and chatted. And soon Katherine arrived looking beautifully elegent – excited to become Mrs Lehman! Led by her gorgeous bridesmaids and, keeping with tradition, given away by her father. Everyone watched happily as they shared their vows and celebrated becoming husband and wife.

Taking a moment
Usually I would suggest making time for some ‘couple shots’ towards the latter part of the day when there is often a quieter moment and some evening sunlight. However, the nature of Katherine and Shaun’s day made sense to enjoy a quiet moment at the Manor before heading off to celebrate. We had already found some quaint little areas in the Manor’s grounds and with the weather being kind to us, we spent a little extra time there whilst everyone made their way to the next venue. I love this part of the day – whether during the afternoon or in the evening – it’s a time when my couples can really connect with one another about their celebrations so far.

Festival vibes
Katherine and Shaun shared their day with a marquee wedding at Deers Leap, where they created a cosy festival vibe. Full of fun and games for both their younger guests and adults alike! Hay bales, fire pits, outdoor jenga, tug-of-war and glamourous bell tents peppered the beautiful open outdoor space. The comfortable and relaxed setting they envisioned worked perfectly as their family and friends giggled and nattered away.

I loved being their choice of a relaxed wedding photographer. I loved being part of their beautifully laid-back wedding day. Here in Lincolnshire we have such a scope of choice to create the wedding that we truly want. Making sure that we tick all of those important boxes that mean the world to us – and more often than not, having a relaxed wedding photographer is right up there at the top of the list!
